Witcraft designs tailor-made educational programs and workshops to instruct the development of material and ideas and follow them through to their execution.
We offer our expertise to educational institutions and event organizers in the areas of film and literature as well as to independent initiatives in continuing education. Our specialist training can be adapted to fit the participants’ level or background: for high school age or college level students, media educators, future filmmakers and for those changing careers.
According to the wishes of the client or partner institution, we can offer everything from single units of instruction to the realization of finished projects, from enabling exposure to theoretical principles to the acquisition of practical skills.
Educational and Applied Course Units
- Explanation of the fundaments of cinematic narrative through use of specially chosen films and/or screenplay analysis
- Formulation of an idea for a film and/or a filmic storyline
- Formulation of an exposé or treatment
- Practical work on a treatment, including work on specific scenes, scenic episodes and dialogue, as well as the identification of ways to deal with various techniques and filmic narrative forms
- Discussion and analysis of writing experiences and results of the work accomplished
- Mapping out of the various issues in need of attention by directors and producers
- Formulation of solutions to problems identified in story development and scriptwriting
According to the client’s and/or partner program’s specific project goal, we may offer our skills to help shape the story development of each participant’s work (and do so, if desired, as one-on-one advisors) or on the collective work of a group project. This learning process will most likely lead to the identification of further steps which extend out beyond the development of the screenplay in question, such as scenic resolution, storyboard production, or the preparation, production and post-production of a short film. In addition, we shall invite experienced specialists and technical consultants in areas appropriate to the type of project under our supervision.
